Our women, our stars
The story of each woman is unique and personal - where they came from, how they found themselves in New York City, and how they found a healing place for themselves working together. The women who are part of Jeebito-Project DV form bonds in an environment that promotes independence, growth, and, most importantly, self-identity.
Our founder, Nivedita Chandrappa
An advocate for DV survivors and small business owner, Nivedita is an Indian immigrant who is well aware of the struggles and heartaches new immigrants, and especially women, endure. Her understanding and passion led her to launch Jeebito-Project DV in 2019. Through this project, she has witnessed women become a part of an economy where women are taught women to negotiate, generate income, and lead others. Prior to Jeebito-Project DV, Nivedita was the founder of Wishwas Inc, a NY-based not-for-profit. She was also a reporter for New India Times in NY and a freelance feature writer at the Deccan Herald and Indian Express in India.
